Tibetan Spaniels Breeder in VA

When committing to buying a puppy, I believe it is important that you understand and trust the person from whom you buy and to help you in that process, I want to share a little about my background.

I am a second generation pure bred dog owner, breeder and exhibitor. My Mother became a world renowned AKC judge after years of involvement as a breeder, professional handler and AKC Representative, having worked with many breeds, including Labrador Retrievers, Portuguese Water Dogs, Cocker Spaniels and Doberman Pinchers. As a child and teenager growing up in Great Falls, VA I was far more interested in horses than dogs. I rode and showed hunter/jumpers until my first year of college. I did not catch the "dog bug" until my early 30s when I lived in Northern California. I saw a photo of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in a dog magazine and knew that was the breed I wanted.

Cavaliers were not AKC recognized at the time and were difficult to find. I was eventually able to purchase a puppy and started in obedience training, but soon realized that my passion was in showing and breeding these lovely Spaniels. I was involved with the breed for nearly 20 years and was active in the original Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, serving as a regional director. I bred many Best in Specialty Show winners and enjoyed traveling all over the country with my Cavaliers.

Shortly after moving back to Northern Virginia, I realized that I wanted to pursue a different breed. I was looking for a relatively small breed, easy to groom and show and with few health issues. My research led me to the Tibetan Spaniel. Once again I was embarking on a little known breed and had no idea where to begin. At the time I worked at a Veterinary hospital and a client brought in a rescue Tibbie. I had never actually seen one before and she told me about a breeder in Goode, VA. I contacted Mallory Cosby-Driskill and she invited me to visit her at a local show to see some Tibbies. I was smitten. Shortly after that, I was lucky enough to get a puppy from Pat Sarles of Wassong. That puppy is Wassong's Foolish Pleasure of Milestone aka Lucy.

Lucy turned out to be a superb girl who was an AKC Group placer and won Winners Bitch at our National. She has produced multiple Champions and is my foundation bitch. My focus in breeding is on conformation, temperament and health. All of my dogs live in the house: puppies are born in my bedroom and reared in the kitchen. All of my dogs have easy access to 2 separate grassy dog paddocks for their exercise and soaking up the sun.

While I love the challenges of breeding and showing, the dogs are first and foremost my family. If you share this feeling and want a Tibbie from me please go to my puppy page. I occasionally have an older Tibbie available.
